Rebecca Rau is a 4th generation antiquaire and jewelry dealer whose eye was shaped by a lifetime in her family’s New Orleans gallery M.S. Rau. Surrounded by rare art and extraordinary jewels, she developed a deep appreciation for history and artisanry.
After earning her Master’s from Sotheby’s Institute London, Rebecca traveled the world acquiring important jewels and artworks for M.S. Rau. She curated exhibitions on jewelry, art, and design, oversaw the gallery’s expansion, and helped secure its debut at TEFAF Maastricht, the world’s premier art and object fair. Along the way, she explored jewelry design, including a special collaboration with American jewelry house Oscar Heyman that celebrated both companies’ 110th anniversaries.
Now based in New York, Rebecca channels her experience into jewelry design. Her creations are refined yet playful, inviting collectors into a world of distinctive ornament that bridges past and present.
Rebecca leverages a global network of experts, developed over fifteen years in the industry, to source high-quality gemstones and antiquities with particular intrigue. She acquires pieces that speak to her viscerally, allowing the design process to evolve organically. Seeking unexpected aesthetic connections between stones and objects, Rebecca creates jewelry that tells a story, using both time-honored techniques and modern technologies. All pieces are assembled in New York by world-class goldsmiths and jewelers with decades of experience at the bench.
Additionally, Rebecca works on bespoke client projects by request.
